Our work
Fresh off the driveway
Real jobs from Hertfordshire and London: snow foam, polishing, interiors and the finished cars. Then, up close, what paint correction actually fixes.
Customers’ number plates are swapped for a Buff Details plate, to keep their cars private.
Paint correction, up close
What polishing takes out
Swirls and fine scratches hide in the shade and jump out in direct sun or under a torch. Drag across the panel to see it before and after each level of correction.

Know the marks
What marring looks like
Four kinds of damage that dull paint, each shown under the same light. Black shows them the most; lighter colours hide them better, but they’re still there.
-
Swirl marks
Fine circular scratches from washing and drying with gritty mitts, brushes and towels. In sun or under a torch they make a spider’s web round the light.
1-stage takes out most of them; 2-stage nearly all.
-
Holograms
Shimmering, rainbow-tinged trails left by a rotary polisher used without a refining step, often after a quick machine polish or bodywork.
A proper finishing polish, part of both corrections.
-
Deeper scratches
Longer, random lines from keys, bushes, a dropped mitt or a car-wash brush. If a fingernail catches in one, it’s deeper than a swirl.
2-stage cuts most of them back. A single one can be spot-repaired from £40.
-
Water spots
Rings left when hard water dries on the paint: rain, sprinklers, or washing in the sun. Left long enough, the minerals etch into the clear coat.
Fresh spots wash off. Etched rings need polishing out.
Illustrations, drawn over a stock photo of black paint, so each kind of mark is clear. Your car’s paint is looked at in person before anything is quoted.
On real jobs
How a correction is done
-
1
Inspect
Every panel is checked under a swirl-finder light, and the paint depth is measured with a gauge before any polishing.
-
2
Prepare
A full wash and decontamination, then rubber trim, seals and plastics are masked so the polisher never touches them.
-
3
Correct
Machine polishing, one stage or two, set up for your paint, checked under the light as it goes.
-
4
Protect
The finish is locked in under a Gyeon ceramic coating, so it stays glossy and is easier to wash.
